22 Best Alien Movies On Netflix

So I'll break with this: it's a shame that there aren't any Star Wars or Matrix parts on Netflix. But there are plenty of sci-fi films to satisfy your alien-movie-binge that could make for a good Friday-night watch when you want to avoid the smell of feet and food at the movie theater. Here are our picks!

22. Halo: The Fall of Reach

Not as gripping as the video game, of course. There's more involvement as first person if you move forward in the story with your controller. But Halo fans would love to watch Master Chief's backstory.

21. Doom

With great action sequences and laudable emotional build up, The Rock, Karl Urban and their squad look and feel fantastic as Space Marines. Spoiler alert for gamers! You'll even get a taste of dramatic first-person shooting in the end.

20. Transformers: Age of Extinction

I admit it wasn't as great as its predecessors. But if you have had a romance with transformer action figures as a child, you might be helpless like me. They are so cool to watch in action. <3

19. Cowboys and Aliens

What does Daniel Craig do when he's not Bond? Beats the crap out of aliens. Set in the wild west, there is lots of extraterrestrial, flashy action in this one. And yes, that's Harrison Ford.

18. Grabbers

The movie has aliens alright, but when you're done, you'll remember it for its giddy Irish accent and imaginative, quirky humor.

17. Spectral

There's cops, and a special forces unit, trying to get rid of monstrous supernatural beings. But they track and single out a reluctant leader to save them all. Definitely watch this if you're into heroic thrillers.

16. Under the skin

It's strange, seducing and eerie in a very Stanley Kubrick way. You almost expect the 'redrum' chanting twins to appear on both sides of Scarlett Johansson.

15. Fire in the Sky

An excitingly disturbing story of a bully victim being abducted and lab-prodded by aliens to understand humans.

14. The Arrival (1996)

Recently The Arrival has received much popularity due to the release of a similar movie with the exact name. Starring Charlie Sheen, it is a great mixture of Jurassic Park and Mission Impossible.

13. Star Trek: Insurrection (1998)

You can't have list of Alien movies without one starring Patrick Stewart. Insurrection can't really be lumped with outstanding sci-fi movies, but Patrick was marvelous!

12. Europa Report

A reality-styled movie starring Sharlto Copley and Michael Nyqvist, shows astronauts documenting their terrors and findings, and plenty of bright Jupiter images. Also a must watch if you want to see more of Miss Honey from Matilda.

11. Star Trek: Generations (1994)

The scale of things is always so mighty high in Star Trek movies, every minute is a surprise, and you will watch this one to the very end to see what their world unfolds.

10. Event Horizon

Most sci-fi horrors are those where till the end, you can't 'see' the monster. The alien in this Lawrence Fishburne film, is an intangible evil possessing crew members in an eerie and gory wrath. Watch it if you want to be frozen to your seat!

9. Ender's Game

It's apocalyptic. It's futuristic. It's got a little kid. And Harrison Ford, Han Solo himself. Need I say more?

8. Explorers (1985)

Centered in the 80's, three kids build a time machine and meet stranger things. Pun intended. Explorers is a prefect mixture of E.T and super 8, and it was made in the 80's so that's a treat in itself.

7. Men in Black III

In this laughable family favorite, the slick MIB duo kick some more alien's asses. But this time Will Smith is paired up with a much younger K (Tommy Lee Jones) back in the past! A tiny event that needs changing.

6. Starship Troopers

Somehow the fascism and the military rule reminds me of Star Wars' storm troopers. An astounding watch for star wars fans, plus it is Oscar nominated. We're actually lucky this is available on Netflix.

5. Stargate: The Ark of Truth

In the middle of ancient ruins and aliens there's drama, there's a higher purpose and an ancient artifact. A must watch!

3. Star Trek: Into Darkness

Benedict makes such a great villain that I have reclaimed my principal of rating action movies on how good their villain is. The movie take you through a moving self-journey of sorts where Kirk (Chris Pine) leading the Enterprise faces difficult decisions. And looks good doing it.

2. Predator

Arnold! Netflix has completely made up for not having Terminator on their database with this gem. The entire movie is target-oriented, the commandos are in the wild, and they hunt... a monster.

1. Guardians of the Galaxy

Number one! The racoon? Is hilarious. The green lady? Very hot! and what a hero Chris Pratt made. Reluctant heroes are the new thing, believe me. Get ready to watch this plenty of times.
